GRATITUDE PRACTICE:
Start each session with a gratitude activity, it involves the first 5 minutes of making a circle and starting the practice by saying thank you for something special about the day or the practice, In each session 2 or 3 players lead the activity.
WHY?
Taking a moment to appreciate what you're grateful for
before starting the practice can significantly enhance the learning environment. Gratitude can clear the mind
for better focus, remind why you love the game, and fuel your motivation. It can
even strengthen your team by creating appreciation for your teammates, leading
to better communication and collaboration. Incorporating a gratitude practice
at the beginning of my basketball coaching sessions can significantly enhance
both the training environment and the player's performance. It helps set a
positive tone, building a positive mindset, focus, and enjoyment of the session.
This practice strengthens team cohesion by building trust and connection among
players and reducing stress and anxiety. Encouraging gratitude
cultivates a growth mindset, prompting players to appreciate progress and learn
from challenges, which boosts their emotional well-being.
